#cancerstopswithme Love Your Melon hats in Salt Lake City!

Lyndsey Danbery

I sat next to Lara on the plane from MSP to Salt Lake City. She had chemo this morning for invasive ductile breast cancer. I gave her my #cancerstopswithme hat. I think she needs it more than I do! We chatted during the flight and even shared portacath scars. We parted our separate ways in SLC but, we made a pact to meet up again and ski together when she beats cancer!

I love how God puts people in your life at just the right time!

The National MWOY All Star Campaign is a national fundraising competition among a select group of MWOY alumni across the US. The male and female candidates who raise the most money during their 10-week campaign are named the National Man & Woman of the Year All Stars!

My battle against blood cancer started in 1994 when I was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL). My #cancerstopswithme fight to STOP cancer started in 2014 when I ran for the local Man & Woman of the Year (MWOY) fundraising campaign.

Since I was diagnosed 25 years ago, I’ve gained many friends through The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I have bonded with families and watched kiddos like Jake, Cole, Kenedi, Kendal, Avery, and far too many others, endure the same treatments I did nearly three decades earlier. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH – we need a CURE
